About R3v0

Revolutionary Network (shortly called Revolt) started occasionally as a Corgi's personal project in 2004. It was a temporal domain for a GNU/Linux-based home server on DSL line. It was (and perhaps still is) a rebellion against the way the Internet evolves. Ofcourse, by 'the Internet' we mean mainly its Czech part, because we are all located in the Czech Republic, EU (at least for now).

Our aim is to build an independent non-commercial community network, partly virtual. R3v0 divides to R3v0.local (private LAN), R3v0.czf (private WAN in CZFree.Net; in preparation) and R3v0.net (publicly accessible part of our network). R3v0 subprojects include R3v0.com, R3v0.org, R3v0.cz, R3v0.info and R3v0.eu — currently a swap domains.

R3v0 is not an ISP, so we do not sell any services. But our equipment costs money, so we accept donations and financial contributions from our users to lower our expenses.

The approach is to do everything on our own, hence not beeing a dependant of some company and it's "internal techniques" [30 days to proceed your request] and "marketing strategies" [an infomail every week with extra offers regardless of how malfunctioning the current services are]. That's the reason why R3v0.net is a non-commercial project, because we do not want to "make big money", we just want to do networking in the best quality we are able to achieve.

Machines

Workhorses

GAUS
General Access Unix Server – a primary server of R3v0.net.
serves also as Alpha.R3v0.net.
homebrew, AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (MICRO-STAR MB), 1U
Tron
(was: slave nameserver) temporal replacement for malfunctioning GAUS.
Compaq Proliant DL360, dual PIII 1,13 GHz, 1U. Replaced Yori.
Sark
old secondary nameserver named Yori, gateway for R3v0.local.
homebrew, Via Epia VT8623-8235, 1U Mini-ITX.
Phobos 2
[for now] test machine in R3v0.local.
Compaq Proliant 1850R, dual PIII, 3U
R4m
rubbish terminal and a test server for Corgi's dark experiments.
Intel Celeron 1.? GHz, 256 MB RAM
MCP
currently a workstation and a test server in R3v0.local.
You probably noticed Corgi's obsession with the movie Tron [1982]...
used mainly as a storage, 'cause 5x 250GB SATA 300

There is also a machine called 'Bit' – Corgi's personal laptop. It's not exactly a R3v0 machine, but it is a part of R3v0.local and he shares it with Iv3t, so...

Deceased and Retired Machines

Dumond
Used as a router in R3v0.local. There was an attempt to revive him, but failed [too much power consumption, too much noise, too little performance...].
Old Intel Pentium I 166MHz, 32 MB RAM.
Phobos 1
Corgi used this machine as his first test server. It was a great fun... Then, ~7 years ago...
Some IBM machine with even older Intel Pentium I 133MHz, ~24 MB RAM.
Lilith, Ninive
Those machines are probably still in Corgi's basement, but nobody knows any longer where they are, how do they look or what do they contains...
Casa
The first machine operating outside R3v0.local. Sold
Intel Celeron ~800MHz, 256 MB RAM, 10 GB HDD
Yori
This machine was made to help Tron fight against Sark, the evil servant of Corgi's MCP... Yeah, you have probably seen the movie Tron [1982]...
Yori was retired 2 months after its entrance to the active duty for a hardware unreliability. It was refurbished and serves now as Sark.R3v0.net

Hints

IPv6

R3v0 members are investigating possibilities of IPv6. We acquired an IPv6 prefix 2001:5c0:981d::/64 from Go6.net and are deploying it right now...

General in GAUS...

To avoid confusion, GAUS is not a broad server. 'General' as 'Main', 'Primary', 'Universal'. In other words, you will not get an ssh account instantly just because you demand it.
